Thankfully tomorrow’s storm missed to the south. Only 5-10mm here. But 20-30mm closer to the storm track thru southern Puget sound
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

Early word is that Highway #3 appears to be in good shape which is remarkable. Flood waters have receded in Princeton as well.

That's where the good news end. Numerous structures and roadways appear to be wiped out or have been rendered inoperable along Highway #1 in the Canyon, up to Lytton and along Hwy #1 through Spences Bridge. A dozen bridges and culverts will need to be rebuilt since the debris flow have worn away at the foundations.

Biggest technical challenge in these areas is that work will need to be done with dry conditions and temperatures above +12C to allow concrete to cure and settle.

Wow so our only supply route from the east will be the longest route, anyone for the old fashion fotever trip to the Okanagan.
Fuel costs, weather closures inevitable this winter welcome to hiway thru hell hiway 3.

It was cold enough for frost to come out of a rotting branch that I found in the forest by my house.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

No idea if posting this link will work, video of a salmon swimming down highway #1 in Surrey best part is the guy laughing at the end.
Sounded like a duck quacking that was my cousin Ms Creeksaoceannow.

Better than nothing, but that highway is not a fun drive during winter storms. There will be a lot of traffic being funneled through that route.

I wonder if they will be imposing some sort of travel restrictions.

We actually just moved a few blocks away so I need to put it up at the new house. Just haven't had time yet as we were deep into the renovations during the last couple of months.

Hopefully soon!

Appreciate the updates. It does sound like Lytton is done...how can they rebuild like this?
