Yes, this was quite common. Doesn’t seem as bad since they upgraded the highway.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:41 pm I think I remember some mud/rock slides on the sea to sky Hwy due to heavy rain in the 80's and 90's, and Squamish always got hit hard.

And I'm still thinking they'll be a ridgy period in December at some point! Like 1999, 2001, or more recently 2011. Could come around Xmas as if often does.

It was called BCTV before Global came along. I don't think Latremouille was there for very long, wasn't Norm Grohman, also known as Andre LaPuck, the main weather guy for many years? Although I'm not sure if he was actually a meteorologist.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:48 pm Yes l remember those well watching the old CTV and Tony Parsons and Pamela Martin.with John McKeachie and Bernie Pascal and weather with Fred Latremouille.

Oh yes, John McKeachie was funny, always spoke too fast and fumbled his words. And he was always good for the proverbial use of the word proverbial.

Highway improvements were huge.
But it also helps that it's been a while since they've gotten a big one. November 1990 and 1995 were particularly bad for the sea to sky corridor. October 2003 sticks out as well.
