If the low layer today was a touch stronger and closer to the coast we could have had a repeat of Feb 21, 2018. Temps below 0c, NW winds for the coastline and places like Ladner/Tsawwassen/Boundary Bay picked up a surprise 10-20cm of sea effect snow. Most of the region only picked up a trace to 4cm but it was pretty sweet to see temps below freezing during the day in late February.
I definitely remember that event in South Delta. Tsawwassen got about 15cm and my parents place in Ladner had about 7cm. Rest of the LM had pretty much no snow at all that day
Currently located in Tsawwassen, beside Tsawwassen Mills

I was shocked at the difference in snow amounts between Cow bay and Duncan yesterday. My in-laws live up by the soccer fields in town and I’d estimate they had 5-6†of snow there last night
Just talked to my daughter. She lives close to Timmy's in the north end of town. She has a total of 9.5 cm, most of it fell yesterday, only a bit overnight. Our snow depth has settled to around 3 cm here, just a trace overnight.

Just too bad that the high would probably be -7.8°C in YVR (at 10:00 pm yesterday). The daytime high should be much lower than that...
Yeah, EC just adjusted forecast high to -9. Seems quite reasonable.
2025-26 season stats:
Climo ∞ to 0.5 GFS
Season total: 0.5 cm and TWO traces!
Peak depth: 0.5 cm (01/07/2026)

Here is a comparison between the forecast and actual 500 mb maps for this morning. Slight differences in depth of the trough/lows and flow pattern - NNE flow aloft along the coast vs. a northerly on the forecast. Not bad for a forecast over six days away!
I screwed up! I used the 00z map not the 12z in my earlier post. Here is the real 4 am 500 mb map from this morning. Still not a bad forecast, only 12 hours different from reality!
