Actually I think they came once when we had 1cm of slush and it was raining. Other than that not at all. It’s a good couple inches of packed ice now.

Same, all they've done is salt and sand a couple times. Was brutal last week, and I expect it to be even worse tomorrow. Thick, heavy slush is the worst in my experience. I'm actually doubting my car will make it out tomorrow. I don't have a lot of ground clearance.

Won't bother shoveling the snow tomorrow. It will easily melt with the intense
by Fri morning. Although whatever doesn't melt will be a thick layer of ice.

Snowpacks are above average for this time of year, so maybe we are headed for big spring floods this year.

Make sure you count those towards your snowfalls. Could give you the advantage!!

18Z HRRR has the snow beginning just after 0500PM and has very little rain behind the snow. FWIW.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
The low has been gradually trending weaker over the last few model runs. However the low coming up from the south on Friday has been trending stronger.Radar wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 8:12 am That continental air not moving out fast enough. Guess the incoming low is stronger than expected and pushing back more. No more feetz of snow.
This continental air isn’t like arctic air. Have my doubts we will see significant amounts of ice. Just less snow and a quicker scrub out of the minimal cold air. Maybe the Wack will hold out longer for snow given then system approach direction.

Re: January 2022 Forecasts and Discussions
It’s been snowing here for about an hour. I’d imagine it’s just some light snow on the periphery of the NE outflow. It has begun trickling onto the South Island.

Ends up with this. Hammers Monty and the South Island, but not so much for the Mainland. Throw it out!
