This is somehow turning up to be an absolutely brutal winter for the East. Almost as bad as the 2015 Feb cold wave.
Crappy skiing coming up. Get a dry day on corn snow is the best one will get for the next 16 days at least.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

You know the skiing weather will improve by late Feb into March. ;) At least we are on the "dry side" of the ridge for some stunningly clear days up there.

Looks more January 2014ish than 2015 imo.

Such a nice ridge. Alas, :clown:. I’ll believe it when I see it.
It's called clown range for a reason.

This is a forecast bust we can all be happy to see.

AR moisture plume never really penetrated far inland and the moisture plume seems to be lifting north as we speak. Incredible precip rates on Van Island below 1800m though. Discharge levels across many streams are still well below projected totals.

Squamish River is running high but Squamish and the Province learned their lesson after the 2003 floods. Some 50 mil to upgrade dykes and add erosion breakers to the river and creeks. It's money well spent to prevent billions of dollars in losses.

C'mon with the dramatics people until the event unfolds? AR days out...pffft. #ModelFail kinda..right Nito?
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

On a personal note, I'm done with it all. I want warm, dry and sunshine. Give me the southwest states!
If last 3 years is any indication you'll get your 5-6 month dry and sunny stretch soon enough, maybe even as early as late March. So we gotta pay our dues for another 2 1/2 months.

"I want dry and warm weather!"

Mother Nature: Okay, here's 3 months of no rain and some +40C days mixed in there.

3C and light rain most of the day here. Yuck!

CFS continues to show a major Arctic blast around Feb 1 though.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Depending on where he moves to in the US Southwest, he can get more than just a few 40°C days.

He should probably avoid Flagstaff, Santa Fe, Taos, and other higher-elevation towns. They are frequently quite cold in the winter.
