Re: February 2026 Forecasts and Discussions
Looks like the "arctic" air has reached most of the Lower Mainland as outflow has picked up in the eastern suburbs/valley and dewpoints dropping to -10c at YXX.
May see some mins in the -6c/-7c range in some spots depending on clearing/winds tonight and tomorrow night. -3c to -5c for most.

Looks like another cold snap coming for Florida. Subzero temps in late Feb is really noteworthy down there.

Thanks John close enough to Chilliwack for needed supplies but Agassiz if need be. And far enough from the lake to avoid the summer invasion of humans as well.

Re: February 2026 Forecasts and Discussions
I'd much prefer a -QBO if we are moving into a +ENSO phase as -QBO's tend to increase the odds of a SSW. During El Niño, a SSW event is almost a necessity to disrupt the typical mild pattern and potentially send arctic air into SWBC/PNW regions. When looking back at the analogs, the majority of El Niño's that performed were -QBO with a SSW. A few examples: 1965/66, 1968/69, 2009/10, and 2023/24. While exceptions are always possible and the strength of the ENSO is certainly a major factor, a -QBO is ideal during El Niño if you want at least a chance of a winter miracle here.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 9:22 am Early indications suggest a continuation of a -QBO next winter. Could lead to another +TNH...cold East is a lock. We usually have a window in November in a +ENSO phase but you can bet the house DJF is a lost cause next year.

Re: February 2026 Forecasts and Discussions
Obviously just more bogus GFS stuff but it would be funny to get this snow event that turns off the taps right as March arrives, just to troll Rubes and his no-March-snow thing.

Re: February 2026 Forecasts and Discussions
It's so damn pathetic! When cities hundreds or thousands of miles south of us get a better winter, we know we are cursed and it's time to bomb the ocean or a volcano to erupt so we can cool down. The west coast is a joke.
