Will we see snow ❄️ in the central valley desert next weekend to far away to predict, my guess is a gradual moderation. 925mb temps will be plus 1c when moisture moves in.
But here's what A.I. Canada says. :shifty:

Unfortunately there's no bite to this reload slow moderation this week. Even the minus 1c forecast high Tuesday for the central valley desert is suspect with 0 snow cover here.

AbbyJr wrote: Sun Feb 09, 2025 5:43 pm For those interested, here is a reanalysis for the beginning of the January 1954 arctic blast. Notice how the polar lobe dives down from the NE into SWBC/PNW with the picture perfect over the water trajectory. This is what I'm referring to when I say I want an old school arctic outbreak. :flakey:

Several days into that arctic blast, an active jet stream slammed into the arctic airmass with a low pressure system stalling offshore for a week. Significant snowfall was recorded between the 20th and the 26th that month with 65.4cm at YVR and around 120cm in New West and Abby.

If only we could somehow get a repeat of that event. But unfortunately, we haven't seen a topic tier snowy pattern like that since the 50's. :bang:

Please just tell me it's not gonna rain at 1,500 m on the 16/17th...
As expected the GFS has done away with all moisture. We see light advection precip with 1500m freezing levels for a few days then right into a massive ridge. It is looking quite dire for the Mountains going into the spring.

The Eastern CONUS is locked into a snowy pattern. My bet is you will see historic snow depths when all is set and done.
