Yes the cutoff for daily data is 22:00 hours for E.C. but in reality l think most members here go from midnight to midnight when their PWS's reset.stuffradio wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 5:35 pm When I was volunteering to collect weather data for Environment Canada, I seem to remember 4 PM being the cut-off for a day. I don’t know why that’s in my mind right now.

Re: October 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
Why does the Abby forecast call for: Wind south 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming southwest 50 gusting to 80 after midnight.
With gusts to 80k, I would assume that warrants a Warning, especially for the first wind that strong and most trees still have half or more of their leaves.

Re: October 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
I'd be surprised if gusts reached 80km/h here. I'm expecting gusts in the range of 55-65 km/h with perhaps a peak gust of 70km/h max.Hound wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 9:54 pm Why does the Abby forecast call for: Wind south 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming southwest 50 gusting to 80 after midnight.

That said, I was surprised Environment Canada didn't issue a Special Weather Statement. While wind gusts are not expected to reach official warning criteria, even 60-70km/h gusts can cause nuisance power outages. Given that this is our first fall storm, I was expecting a statement to be issued.

Re: October 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
And what is this? Why does it show a warning all the way out past Langley and talks about gusts to 90k? Yet on the actual forecast page there is no warning. Such inconsistency!! Sure, it says North Delta in the text but...........

Re: October 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
The hallmark of a forecast that was automatically generated from raw model output without any human input. Also the hallmark of a forecast model and its lack of resolution causing it to fail to realize that the bottom of the Fraser Valley is as low as it is.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Fortunately, they changed for 8°C.
The max is 10.1°C so far... What was the forecast yesterday? Oh, yeah, 6°C... It's not even the minimum!

The wind never quite materialized here either. A bit gusty overnight, but nothing noteworthy.

Apparently it was quite gusty overnight here. I'm not sure what the actual wind speed was but some metal chairs fell down the deck stairs apparently.
