I like looking at the WRF models for our region. The NAM was showing a similar track with a compact preasure field.
It is a scenario where I would hate to be a forecaster. NAM is pure trouble for the region, yet the EURO and HRDPS say don't worry. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, as far as warnings are concerned.

NAM and GFS are look pretty bad. SW Metro Vancouver could see sustained 50-70km/hr winds but gusts could reach 120km/hr. I feel that might be conservative though.
I think the Euro/GEM are wrong in showing this fizzle out.

I’d be inclined to side with the Euro and HRDPS but it’s going to be a very tough forecast. Strange to see such major model differences at this range. But windstorms are very hard to predict here.
LOWEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED IN CANADA IN DECEMBER SINCE 1975 [-56.7°C]
ALL-TIME RECORD FOR THE STATION
-52.5°C Faro
-52.2°C Nursery & Rabbit Kettle, NT
-51.8°C Carmacks
-50.5°C Pelly Ranch
-50.2°C Beaver Creek
Incredible cold in Yukon this month. Seems like this will be a top 5 coldest December on record for many locations up there. Even the far north in BC has gotten in on it... Fort Nelson and Dease Lake for example.
Further south in Fort St. John and the southern Peace Region, it's one of their snowiest months on record already IIRC.
One would think the dam will break at some point, but there are instances of past winters that have been brutally cold up there and failed to deliver here.

Currently the 6th coldest at Dawson. 11th coldest at Old Crow.
Anyone in the top 5 doesn't have records as long as Dawson.
